More than a coincidence
NC Policy Watch - Fitzsimon File

Democratic legislators were clearly targeted, as you’d expect in a partisan district plan, but Republican legislative leaders seemed especially eager to target Democratic women in the General Assembly for defeat...Six women Democratic legislators have so far publicly announced they are not seeking reelection and others may announce soon. Republican leaders don’t seem to want strong Democratic women in the General Assembly.

Lillian’s List hosted two campaign strategy trainings for more than 50 pro-choice Democratic women from across the state on Thursday and Friday, February 2-3 in Raleigh. Gov. Bev Perdue and women in politics
Charlotte Observer

Cotham's experience of bringing her child with her to the legislature - something male lawmakers don't do - and the attendant multi-tasking it requires underscore the challenges that women can face. Association of Teachers from having dues automatically deducted from their paychecks. Aside from whether it's good policy to single out one organization for different treatment from all others, the dark-of-night vote was exactly the kind of disregard for transparency that fuels voters' disgust with politicians.

Voting districts before judges
Raleigh News & Observer

Many of our Democratic women candidates were drawn into districts together this session in a Republican attempt to force them out of office in 2012. A three-judge panel tasked with deciding the legality of the state's Republican-drawn voting districts heard their first arguments from both sides on Friday, Dec. 16. Read more
