Lillian’s List Members and Friends:
Barack Obama is Elected President of the United States in Historic Election and Democratic Women Win Big in North Carolina!
Good Morning North Carolina! Last night we made history. Our statement was proud and loud, we are the New South, we are the leaders of a movement that connects all of us together. Women elected women in record numbers and the results are in.
Leading the way was Bev Perdue elected as Governor, Kay Hagan as Senator, and Janet Cowell as Treasurer. The Legislature gained new members, including Lillian’s List new candidate Jane Whilden, and secured a majority fortified by the efforts of Lillian's List. We are gaining ground and with you, we are celebrating together the accomplishments of a hard fought election cycle.
Take in the day's events. Applaud yourselves on the efforts you made, understand the moment, and build upon what we achieved. Let us move forward with a message of unity with purpose and determination.
You joined a massive movement. You helped define a generation of leadership unequaled in our state's history and we are eternally grateful.
With much on our shoulders we humbly thank you. We take the trust that you put in us seriously and we will strive to provide you with exemplary programming and service.
A bright future awaits us and I am, Sincerely yours, Laura B. Edwards Co-Founder, Chair, Lillian's List of North Carolina
