    Make a Contribution

Lillian’s List is excited to recommend Ann Newman to our members, a nurse with more than four decades of professional and community service to her credit. Ann is running for an open seat in the NC House.

Health Care

In her 40 year career, Ann has taken care of thousands of patients, directed health care policy and shaped the careers of our state’s best nurses in her role as Associate Professor in the UNC-Charlotte School of Nursing.  Board Certified in Psychiatric Medicine, Ann’s teaching and clinical specialty is Mental Health.  Ann is committed to influencing the future of patient care in North Carolina and has the combination of practical and policy experience to get the job done. Ann would be the first registered nurse elected to the NC General Assembly.

Economic Security

“Affordable health care, bringing good jobs back to North Carolina and solving transportation and housing issues are required to return economic security and well-being to families across the state,” says Newman. “As the representative of District 103, I pledge to pay attention to what the people of Matthews, Mint Hill and east Charlotte are saying and take these concerns to Raleigh.”

Community Service

Ann is the President of the Democratic Women of Mecklenburg County and has served on many committees and boards including; the NC Board of Nursing, Board of Directors of the Arthritis Services, United Way Older Adult Wellness/Disability Council, and Client Rights Committee of the Mecklenburg County Area Mental Health Provided Service Organization. An ordained elder in the Presbyterian Church, Ann has taught Sunday school and served on numerous church committees.

The right person for the challenge

Ann Newman is the right person to be at the table when the General Assembly considers health care legislation. We’re facing a health care crisis, especially in mental health. Ann will make a huge contribution to improving health for North Carolina citizens.
